I recently read a post by lifeofRobert about his inconsiderate-barbecue-on-the-stairs-while-screaming-shouting-and being generally unpleasant-neighbours. It makes me think about neighbours and behaviour in general.

While my anonymous husband and I have some colourful neighbours lately it is the other members of our community that give us pause. We live very close to one of the pools in our condominium complex, in fact we can see into the pool from our bedroom window. This has been both a blessing and a curse.

Blessing since I can look out my window, view the capacity of the pool, just waltz out the door and walk the meter and half to the pool. Curse due to the proximity of the pool I have been witness to many “acts” that occur in the pool. One of the biggest complaints I have is noise. Now, I was a kid and played in a pool so I understand the usual amounts of screaming, shouting and splashing. What gets me is the behaviour of sub-adults (teenagers about 14-1 8) and adults (18 and up) that utilize the pool.

Again I understand it’s a pool not an old lady tea party. Let me recount an experience which happened about two weeks ago. It is a hot day and the pool is being utilized I leave the house to retrieve the post and hear the banter of Marco Polo. I smile to myself thinking its a bunch of 12 year olds having a good time until…

Marco!

Polo!

Marco… I’ll kill you muthafukka!! and other various curses follow

I glance into the pool area and see a group of older sub-adults and adults. Now I love having fun but screaming obscenities at the top of my lungs doesn’t facilitate that. Also its not very neighbourly.
